Gingham Girl

So it seems that my love for tartan and plaid for A/W is progressing into a new love for reduced sized squares, particularly of the white and navy variety; the gingham print. After looking longingly at the print on the catwalk, I can finally get my hands on it as it’s entered the high street in almost every shape and size (we have Topshop to thank for this!). From accessories to entire two piece co-ord ensembles- I want need it all!

Accessory wise, I’m going crazy for Topshop’s scrunchies. I’ve posted about them a few times now and at a mere £4 they’ve been a bit of a blessing to satisfy my recent shopping cravings without breaking the bank at all. As of last week I’ve been on a spending ban because as most of you will know if you follow me on instagram/ twitter, I finally have a moving in date to move to LONDON! Excited would be an understatement, but it means for now, the closest I’m letting myself get to new clothing is a scrunchie here and there which have proved to be strangely satisfying purchases, they’re just too cute! Little tip there for anyone else trying to survive a spending ban!

Despite my little gingham wishlist having to remain just that, a wishlist for now, I’ll be racing out soon enough to make sure my wardrobe it crammed full of this print come Spring. My favourite pieces have to be the co-ords, oversized smock dresses and dropped waist smock dresses, which will look equally as good with tights and boots as they will with bare legs come summer. I’m also on the lookout for a tent dress similar to the one Victoria Beckham was papped in, but in a white and navy gingham print. I can picture it now and know I’d live in it all through S/S. If I can’t find one soon I may resort to getting my mum to make me one! That’s not a bad idea actually... *watch this space*

The print fills me with nostalgia, instantly reminding me of those adorable little dresses we used to have to wear to school, yet I think these ensembles are fully acceptable for us adults to wear! A gingham smock dress paired with white cleated sole sandals and my hair up in a scrunchie; I know I’ll be looking like a stretched primary school girl this Summer!

Are these little checks going to be a weakness of yours this Spring too?

  2. I love the Gingham print but it isn't to flattering which is the only problem I'm having with it.

    1. I think on the floaty dresses it’s flattering! Or just by adding a pop of the print into an outfit through accessories, a gingham clutch would be so cute!x
