Alexander Wangs SS14 collection is just to die for, and the way it hit the catwalk at NYFW was equally as incredible with the ‘no-messing’ dance vibe and rap echoing amidst the leggy models and cubic forms. Wang has captured a unique and balanced contrast between femininity and a carefree boyish attitude.
Crops, pleats and laser cuts were the main elements of the collection, complimenting the simple colour pallet of whites, blacks and greys with accents of dusty pink and powder blue. Outfits formed from plain, one colour, matching separates accentuate the simplicity allowing the shapes and silhouettes to be the talking point. A toughened slogan is thrown in at the end, showcased by no other than the Erin Wasson.
Simple cuts have a distinct oriental vibe whilst remaining relaxed which makes the whole collection appear so wearable. Although I’m left confused about a selection of the boots shapes, the white patent shoes excite me and I’ll be hunting down a high street pair!
The stiff boxy cuts and mid length cropped sleeves are by far my favourite aspect of the collection. My favourite jacket from last season is in fact this exact cut, so I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this on the catwalk!
