The Perfect Summer Foundation- Found ✓

We all want a flawless finish that doesn’t look cakey in the sun or end up an oily melted mess, right? I’ve tried and tested Bourjois healthy mix foundation and concealer for 10 hour days out in this little heatwave of ours- read on to find out how I got on!

Apologies for the long time no post! As many of you may know, I’m a promotional brand ambassador for a broad range of clients, so often get put up in hotels and work away! Last week I was an Alfa Romeo girl at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood and although I didn’t have a chance to post, I put the time to good use blog-wise and ceased the opportunity to try out a new foundation!

If you live in the UK you’ll know that we’ve been experiencing a heatwave, reaching levels that you would expect abroad! Obviously I cannot get enough of this hot sunny weather (as I’m sure you can’t either)- but when it comes to a face of makeup, it’s no secret that the sun and heat isn’t a foundations best friend. I steer well clear of foundation during the days, opting for concealer and bronzer instead to allow my skin to breath and tan, but for when I’m on a job I usually have to be fully made up. Que Bourjois healthy mix foundation and concealer...

Bourjois radiance reveal healthy mix foundation- £9.99 Boots and with free delivery at Asos

Bourjois touche healthy mix illuminating brush concealer- £8.99 Superdrug and with free delivery at Asos

I purchased these both from Boots (they haven’t got the concealer online) whilst the 'buy one get one half price’ deal was on, so they ended up to be a complete bargain! I’ve noticed that Asos have started stocking most of the Bourjois collection, so it’s worth keeping in mind when repurchasing as they often offer free delivery (or all the time if you’re an Asos premier account holder!).

The Foundation is available in 8 different shades which doesn’t seem a lot, but the different tones (red/ yellow) mean that they’re suitable for almost everyone. As I’m fairly tanned, I settled with number 56 which was the shade ‘light bronze’ and have absolutely no complaints about the colouring, it seems to match me perfectly! I always go for a shade slightly lighter than my skin, just because it looks better to warm it up with bronzer afterwards rather than having an all over dark face! The foundation itself is a serum gel formula with vitamin-rich fruit therapy designed to create an even complexion with an anti-fatigue result. The apricot ingredients are there for radiance, the melon for hydration and the apple to protect your youth. As it’s oil free I felt it would be perfect for wearing in the heat and to help refrain me from looking a shiny mess- I wasn’t wrong!

After applying it at 5.30am and being out in the heat and sun all day long until 8pm, the foundation still pretty much looked the same as it did in the morning! I actually couldn’t believe it considering just how hot it has been! By the fifth and final day I was extremely tired, yet the radiance boosting ingredients somehow managed to make me look as though I was glowing (a little miracle I was more than thankful for!)! I was surprised at this as it seems that despite it being oil free, it’s still hydrating and doesn’t have a drying effect, in fact it leaves my skin looking ever so slightly dewy (not greasy) so it worked great with my combination skin.

After applying a small amount of the foundation all over my face with my real techniques stippling brush (I’ll never go back to applying foundation with my fingers again!), I’d describe the coverage as medium: high enough to cover any imperfections, yet light enough to avoid looking cakey and ‘mask-like’. To finish, I dusted over a fine layer of my Jurlique finishing powder (see my previous review), which again I would highly recommend! I really haven’t got a single complaint about this foundation, especially after trying it out over the long hot days at work and as it’s a ‘healthy mix’ of ingredients it makes me feel a lot better about putting it on my skin!

Purchasing the concealer was a little bit of an afterthought as I’m so in love with my benefit fake up, but the ‘buy one get one half price’ offer urged me to try it! I naturally have quite dark under eyes anyway (a HUGE hate of mine), so I often try out every concealer I can get my hands on! I opted for the rose beige shade, as the red tones cancel out dark under eye bags, and it seems to have worked wonders!

Again, I liked the fact that it was oil free so it wouldn’t slip and slide in the heat and the brush tip is great for application. The beauty tip on the packaging recommends you to apply it over dark circles as well as over your eyelids- why have I never thought of this before?! Applying it over your eyelids really does make a world of difference, having a brightening and illuminating effect on your whole face! As well as the foundation I’ll definitely be repurchasing this concealer again, the illuminating particles and pinky tones do a great job at fooling the world into thinking I’m fully rested and glowing!

Bourjois, I take my hat off to you! It’s been a long long time since I’ve raved about a foundation.
I’ve also had my blog shop under construction for the past 2-3 weeks, hopefully I’ll get chance to launch it this week- so watch this space! I hope you’re all enjoying this weather as much as I am :)!
