Despite owning a pink smart car (my dream when I was growing up that I just had to fulfil as soon as I turned 17) pinky hues hadn't ever really appealed to me, especially when it came to my wardrobe. Having a flick through my hangers now, I don’t actually own a single pink item! Despite obvious colour stereotypes, not many of us girls do though, right!?
AW13 catwalk shows quickly nipped any relations to barbie girl in the bud, when the prominent array of gorgeous dusty tones of pink introduced a whole new perspective to a pink wardrobe. Classic cuts and shapes were refreshed with subtle blush hues, introducing a feminine alternative to nude options. I’m instantly thinking Elle Woods, of course a fun yet sophisticated rendition that has left me oh-so eager to purchase a blush toned suit! Perfect for lunches, shopping trips, interviews and even evening wear, I think this is crying out to become a wardrobe staple of mine, compiled with various oversized plain/printed vests tucked in- lovelovelove♡! (Although I can’t help but laugh at the image of me getting out of my pink smart, white chihuahua in hand, sporting a pink trouser suit!)
Despite not yet being able to find that perfect pink trouser suit, I’m embracing the girly shades- project blush my wardrobe begins! Here are my favourite blush finds:
Geo burnout shirt- £29.00 Topshop Crossover trousers- £17.99 Zara sale Pink mom jeans- £42.00 Topshop Longline blazer- £29.99 Missguided Stone statement necklace- £5.38 Etsy Shirt in palm print- £90.00 Asos Raspberry bodysuit- £15.00 Glamorous Flamingo nail varnish- £3.00 River Island
Firstly, the Topshop mom jeans! I couldn’t quite contain my excitement when I saw that my beloved mom jeans were now available in pink! Although I stupidly purchased my bleached denim pair in a size too big earlier on this year, pulling them in with a belt has worked perfectly and I’ve had so much wear out of them- meaning I can most definitely justify adding these pink beauties to my wardrobe!
The prints on both the shirt and bodysuit are right up my street, I can imagine them both being teamed with a pair of denim shorts and hi-tops for a cute smart/casual summer look. The shirt would look equally as good with a pair of heels and nude jeans, ready for that Summer to Autumn transition.
As beautiful as the stone necklace is, I’m undecided whether it was a good find as I absolutely love it.. but the delivery can take up to 3 weeks. Waiting for long delivery times is a massive pet hate of mine (H&M need to take note, which I’m sure we’re all agreed on!), but it’s such a bargain that I may just have to hold out and wait. After all, it is just so gorgeous and unlike anything I’ve seen in the shops recently, I think it’s another one to add to my vast collection!
What do you think of my picks? Will you be embracing blush tones?
