The one thing I love about the soap awards? The dress code. It isn’t as ‘belle of the ball’ when comparing it to the likes of the Oscars, so we get to see all of our favourite stars dressing in their own personal styles! Which of course provides us with such an interesting and exciting red carpet. Putting myself in the shoes of a soap star, I’d definitely still opt for a sophisticated floor length number as it’s not everyday you get to wear one! Saying this, a few of the not-so-obvious red carpet outfits have made it into my picks, fierce, fun and simply fabulous... here are my top picks from last night:
Claire’s sunkissed skin, dark hair and pearly whites are showcased perfectly against this floor length black number. The nude mesh inserts exaggerate her figure, creating such a stunning silhouette and she avoids looking too OTT with a simple 60’s up-do.
Georgia May Foote
Nominated for the sexiest woman award, I may be a little bias when choosing Georgia for my picks. I’m pretty sure we can all agree in saying she could wear a bin bag and still look absolutely incredible! Saying this, her bold orange/red block colour dress and matching lip compliment her skin and hair colour perfectly and I absolutely love the slightly clashing contrast between her and the red carpet.
Opting for a white trouser suit, beautiful simple heels and a matching statement oversized clutch, Brooke really pulls off the oh so sexy effortless look. She completes it with tousled hair, simple makeup and a bold red lip. There’s just enough side boobage on show to keep her whole look classy and obviously avoiding the worst dressed list, putting Jennifer Metcalfe’s embarrassing gaping white blazer disaster to shame (see here).
As soon as I saw Lucy turn up last night I instantly thought of Bree Van De Kamp from Desperate housewives, which can never be a bad thought! The straight cut high neckline makes it incredibly sophisticated, and the rest of the dress shows off her petite frame amazingly, yet it doesn’t appear to be too clingy. The bright yellow contrasting with the green and gold clutch and her auburn hair makes for a bold statement. The whole ensemble is so eye-catching and definitely for all of the right reasons.
I’ve done the standard ’day after the red carpet’ rounds checking through all of last nights press photos just to be sure I haven’t missed anyone out! Do you agree with my picks? Who would you give your ‘best dressed’ award to?
