We all know that hot weather and a full face of makeup results in a sweaty, greasy, unattractive mess. As soon as the days get hot, whatever the occasion; foundation and heavy makeup is a definite no-no for me. That’s where my barefaced essentials come into hand!
Soap & Glory concealerThe body shop tea tree pore minimiser Maybelline dream touch blush Rimmel scandaleyes nude pencil The body shop vitamin E lipbalm Mac shygirl lipstick Lipliner Bourjois bronzer Jurlique rose finishing powder
The tea tree pore minimiser will be such a saviour come summer! It not only makes pores appear smaller but it smooths, primes and mattifies, which will refrain me from looking a shiny mess.
A concealer is a must, I hatee those dreaded dark under eye circles and this one contains two different shades complete with a fine powder to make sure it doesn’t budge.
I’ve found the Maybelline dream touch blush to be amazing, especially on bare skin. Using it like a highlighter and putting it on the tops of my cheek bones makes the biggest difference, brightening up my whole face. I even think I prefer this to Benefits high beam because of the gorgeous peachy tone and the cream texture.
As I’m a mac shygirl obsessive (see my post here), I like to apply lipliner first (and rub it in a bit) to help my lips to subtly stand out. Wearing lip liner along with lip balm is also a good way to nourish them without compromising on appearance. My absolute favourite lip balm is the vitamin e one from The body shop as its highly moisturising yet isn’t shiny/glossy in the slightest. It’s got SPF 15 in it too, so perfect for summer.
I use Rimmel’s scandaleyes nude khol pencil on my waterlines, making my eyes appear bigger and wearing it with just a simple application of mascara creates such a natural summery look. It’s waterproof too and has absolutely amazing staying power.
Jurliques finishing powder (see my full review here) is great for keeping that unwanted oily shine away, whilst leaving your skin looking dewy, glowing and even. It really is the perfect powder as it does it’s job, yet is kind to your skin and doesn’t look cackey in the slightest. This will be great to apply for summer evenings, for that extra bit of coverage.
I’ve used Bourjois’ bronzing powder for ever since I can remember. It’s a gorgeous matte, rich illuminating tone that’s great for tanned skin. The cardboard ‘book’ packaging means that it’s pretty much un-breakable, so it’s ideal for shoving in your bag.
Whats missing? Nars Laguna! I just can’t resist the splurge any longer.
You may have noticed that I’ve not included a mascara. I’m currently on the lookout for the perfect waterproof mascara.. what do you all recommend?
