As we live and go to uni in the centre of Southampton, we literally live our lives within a tiny 1 mile radius, everything we have and need is so close and as it's so built up it can all get a bit claustrophobic. Uni work is so full on at the moment for both of us too, so a get away was much needed. For Sean's birthday I was on the lookout for somewhere to take him away from the city and somewhere that was a little bit different.
A hotel room seemed a bit of an obvious choice, and that's when I came across the Old Thorns manor hotel and country estate's pod spa breaks. Their luxury eco pods are right next to the hotel, so you can use all of the hotels spa and dining amenities, yet have the novelty of staying in a pod. It's located in Liphook, Hampshire so is about a 50 minute drive from here, but with the huge contrast it feels as though you're a million miles away from the city. Set in the beautiful countryside and surrounded by its own golf course, it's such a peaceful and tranquil setting.
Upon arrival, we were given keys to pod number 3 and it was ready for us straight away because it wasn't occupied the previous night. Although they look small from the outside, they're in fact quite spacious inside (the photographs make it appear smaller than it felt) and contains absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay.
